JMBM attorneys Victor Shum and Wesley Kinnear represented beverage alcohol industry veterans Tony Foglio and Keith Greggor of Anchor Brewers & Distillers, LLC (ABD) in the acquisition of San Francisco brewery Anchor Brewing Company. The brewery, founded in 1896 and one of San Francisco’s oldest breweries, was purchased in 1965 by Fritz Maytag, who is widely credited with founding the microbrewing movement in the United States.
As part of the transaction, Foglio and Greggor, the former management team at Skyy Spirits, consolidated Preiss Imports (a specialty importer of premium spirits and beer) and BrewDog USA LLC (the exclusive U.S. distributor of BrewDog beer) into the ABD family of companies, and established a strategic partnership with Berry Bros. & Rudd, the 312-year-old purveyor of spirits and wine to the British royal family.
ABD plans to establish a “Center of Excellence” in San Francisco for craft brewers and artisan distillers from around the world, preserving a tradition of authentic, natural products that reflect the passions of their creators.
