Employment Litigation and Labor Relations. Taraneh specializes in labor and employment law matters on behalf of management. She defends employers in labor and employment disputes, including allegations of race, age, gender and disability discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, and wage and hour violations. Taraneh handles all facets of the litigation process including preparing and opposing motions, propounding and responding to discovery, investigation, strategy, taking and defending depositions, mediating cases to resolution, preparing for trial, consulting witnesses, and appearing in state and federal court. She also handles relations between management and unions including defending representative and decertification elections, unfair labor practices, grievances and arbitrations. Taraneh has appeared in state and federal court and has experience with administrative agencies such as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the Department of Fair Employment Housing, the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Employment Development Department.
Employment Counseling. Taraneh also counsels employers in all aspects of California and federal employment law, including employee hiring and discipline procedures, unfair competition matters, worker classification issues, leaves of absence, wage and hour law, and employee severance and termination strategies. She has experience drafting all types of employment agreements and policies, including employee handbooks, independent contractor agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, sexual harassment policies, email and internet usage policies, and employment-related forms.
Taraneh advocates a proactive approach, counseling employers to evaluate their employment practices to minimize liability exposure. Her client-focused counsel is tailored to serve the long term goals of each client.
Training and Investigations. Taraneh also conducts training lectures and seminars on general human resources issues. She also assists with sexual harassment and other employment related investigations, and implements effective employee discipline or exit strategies in response to those investigations
Prior to her work at JMBM, Taraneh was an extern to the Los Angeles Lakers and assisted with the preparation and negotiation of Lamar Odom's 2009 Player Contract.
In her spare time, Taraneh is an avid runner and a certified professional running coach with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Team In Training" program where she has coached hundreds of participants to completion of marathon and half-marathon distance races.
