Victor T. Shum is a corporate and securities partner in JMBM's San Francisco office. Victor advises corporations, partnerships, LLCs and nonprofits in connection with all aspects of operations. He works with private and public companies on equity and debt financings, securities matters, mergers & acquisitions, and other strategic business transactions, including real estate transactions and intellectual property and technology licensing matters.
In addition to representing businesses from a multitude of different industries, Victor works with venture capital funds and real estate funds as well as traditional and private lenders. As a member of JMBM's Chinese Investment Group™, Victor also has significant experience advising clients on cross-border transactions, including representing investors and companies in inbound and outbound technology and real estate transactions with China, and representing high-net worth individuals, real estate developers and USCIS regional centers with the EB-5 immigrant investor program.
Victor has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, Law360 and other publications regarding the venture capital market and IPOs, including Chinese IPOs.
Prior to attending law school, Victor was an engineer at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Mobil Oil Corporation. He has also served as a petrochemical consultant in Beijing, China.
