Brian Yates is an associate in the Firm's Sports Law Group and Litigation Department. He has represented Major League Baseball teams including the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds in player salary arbitrations and contract negotiations. Brian has also advised companies in the sports industry on a broad range of issues including compliance with league rules and international, federal and state laws related to liability issues, athlete agreements and promotional events.

Brian is also an active entertainment litigator with extensive experience in the music, live theater and film industries. He has represented the largest record company in the world as both a plaintiff and defendant in copyright and breach of contract litigation. He has also represented the leading developer, producer and distributor of live theater in North America in multiple matters including an arbitration related to the sale of certain theaters in Toronto, Canada. Brian’s experience in the film industry has involved representing studios, independent production companies and actors in breach of contract and other disputes.
