Andrew Dallmann's practice focuses on patent litigation. He has over twelve years experience and has worked on patent matters in a variety of industries, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, rocket launch technology, interactive television, integrated circuit testing and satellite broadcasting systems.

Before he started practicing law, Andrew worked as a geophysicist in mineral and oil exploration with Atlas Wireline in Houston, TX, and Geoterrex in Canada and consulted on environmental and OSHA compliance issues for ICF Kaiser Engineers in Chicago, IL and GZA GeoEnvironmental in Grand Rapids, MI.

Andrew was named a "Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star" by Law & Politics Magazine.

Representative Legal Experience:

  • The KONG Company v. VIP Products. Represented KONG in a patent and trademark infringement suit pertaining to dog chew toys.
  • Steril-Aire v. First Light, et al. Represented Steril-Aire in a suit pertaining to its ultraviolet emitter technology.
  • In Re Katz v. General Electric. Defended General Electric against claims of infringement of a large patent portfolio involving interactive voice communication systems.
  • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology v. Abacus Software. Represented MIT in a patent suit against multiple defendants.
  • Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd. v. Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp., et al. Represented CMO in a multi-patent suit pertaining to its development and manufacture of liquid crystal displays.
  • Amgen, Inc. v. F. Hoffman-LaRoche. Represented Amgen in a multi-patent suit pertaining to its development of pegylated-erythropoietin protein produced by recombinant DNA technology.
  • Convolve, Inc., v. Seagate Technology, LLC. Represented Seagate in a multi-patent, trade secret, fraud, and business tort suit relating to the design and development of its hard disk drives.
  • Lockheed Martin Corp. v. The Boeing Co., et al.  Represented Lockheed in a trade secret misappropriation, antitrust and business tort law suit relating to government contracts for rocket launches.
  • Animatics Corp. v. Quicksilver Controls, Inc. Represented Animatics in a patent, unfair competition and trade dress suit involving its digitally controlled servo motor technology.
  • Confidential Medical Device Manufacturer. Represented a client in an arbitration involving claims of trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, fraud and antitrust violations pertaining to its development of medical devices.
  • In the Matter of Certain Field Programmable Gale Arrays and Products Containing Same (337-TA-441, Xilinx, Inc. v. Altera Corporation). Represented Xilinx in a patent infringement case involving field programmable gate array.
  • In the Matter of Certain Programmable Logic Devices and Products Containing Same (337-TA-453 Altera Corporation v. Xilinx, Inc.). Represented Xilinx in patent infringement case involving field programmable gate array.

Representative Technical Experience:

  • Drafted Storm Water Pollution Prevention plans for the Grand Rapids International Airport and Kellogg Company, in Battle Creek, Michigan.
  • Supervised and conducted site assessments, soil and groundwater remediation, and in-ground hydraulic lift assessments and removal at multiple Ford Motor Company dealerships throughout the Midwest.
  • Oversaw the sampling and remediation of dozens of leaking underground storage tank sites.
  • Involved in the environmental assessment and groundwater sampling as part of the decommissioning of the Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan.
  • Conducted environmental and geophysical assessments of Superfund sites.
  • Performed numerous types of geophysical surveys and collected, processed and analyzed, hundreds of kilometers of ground geophysical data in conjunction with mineral exploration, geotechnical and environmental site assessments, including electrical resistivity, time and frequency-domain electromagnetics, seismic, gravity and induced potential.
  • Oversaw 3-month gravity survey in Gabon, West Africa, in conjunction with oil exploration seismic survey for Elf Gabon.
  • Performed wireline well-logging and well services in cased and uncased wells for the oil and gas industry.
